- Thesen Harbour Town
Thesen Harbour Town is the commercial village of Thesen Islands. Where the residential area is only accessible by residents and their visitors through the 24/7 security gate, Thesen Harbour Town is open to all, and easily accessible via the causeway linking Thesen Islands with the mainland. The main street of this commercial village is framed by weather-protected arcades, featuring an eclectic mix of restaurants, boutiques, offices and apartments, and ending in a typical village square with a long scenic pier into the lagoon, offering beautiful views over the lagoon and towards Knysna town and its harbour.
Many of the historic buildings such as the Sawtooth Building, the Parking Garage and the Boatshed have been adapted and modernised for re-use, retaining an authentic sense of the past. Pause on a shaded bench - you won't be bothered by traffic because the parking is mostly tucked away out of sight.
Here you will find interesting shops, restaurants, a tapas bar, hotels, a gym, a children’s playground, all along the main street or around the village square. You can do the Thesen historical walk route following the information panels, or you can go on an exciting whale-watching trip or embark on a relaxing lagoon houseboat holiday.
Residents can take a leisurely walk over the pedestrian bridge or even cruise by boat from their home to join the Harbour Town buzz. For your convenience, public moorings are provided at the quayside. Marina life doesn't get much better than this!
